Catholics for Kerry

The American Street notes the following Rove interview in newsmax. Rove says that they have a couple of nasty October surprises for Kerry.

I do worry about an October surprise. At this point it would seem that OBL would be the mother of all surprises because JK has been hammering home the theme that W took his eye off the OBL/Al Qaeda ball.

But even if it is OBL, if the Kerry teams moves swiftly, we can jujitsu the whole issue along the lines of 4 yrs, 1000 lives and $200bill later, Bush finds OBL and is playing politics with 9-11. Also the 9-11 families may just be furious if it is clear Bush had OBL in a hatch waiting to spring him for his October surprise.

On the other hand, the Kerry team needs to go on the offensive and hammer away.

There is now the concern that Bush is going to be better prepared for the next two debates. Kerry is suprememly experienced and understands that each debate is its own entity. He is not going to let his guard down. We supporters on the other hand, have to be careful. The expectations game has now shifted. Kerry is the clear superior and Bush is inept and now all Bush has to do is clear a very low bar.

On the other hand, I think the American people have decided that it is simply not enough for a candidate for POTUS should clear a low bar. We want a president we can be proud of once again. One who speaks with authority and intelligence on the world stage: one who leads and not bullies: one who can stand before other world leaders and command their respect: one who can address other nations in their native tongues: one who understands the issues and doesn't spend a third of his term on vacation: one who has the interests of the people at heart (where corporations are not defined as persons, rather, human beings with souls are persons).

We have the opportunity to elect such president in John Kerry. Let's do it.
